The island of Pag bases its tourist offer on natural beaches, untouched nature, sun, sea, quality gastronomy, and many have recognized it as an ideal location for an active holiday. The island has a large number of archaeological sites and historical landmarks that take us back to the Stone Age. This rocky landscape is compared to the surface of the Moon, and is known to many as the Island of cheese, lace and salt.


Tourists can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the island of the moon and participate in various amateur competitions on organized outdoor tracks. In the very north of the island of Pag are the Lunjski olive groves. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that there is the largest number of thousand-year-old wild olive trees located in one place. In addition, they offer a wide range of olive oil, souvenirs made from olive wood and various food products made from olives and figs.
The beaches represent a unique combination of stone and crystal clear sea, and this island is home to some of the best sandy beaches in the country. Beautiful beaches such as Jadra in Stara Novalja, Ručica and Beritnica in Metajna, Prnjica and Čista have been put on the island map and recognized as real pearls of nature.


Gastronomy and oenology

The island of Pag has a rich gastronomic offer, which is influenced by the position of the island under Mount Velebit, from which it is drilled strong storm. Pag salt, cottage cheese, sheeps cheese, century-old olive oil and lamb are just some of the foods because of which this destination is famous for its gastronomy. Along with corn and hay, sheep feed themselves sage and immortelle that grows in dry walls, and this is what gives cheese and lamb a specific taste.
Pag cheese, Gligora cheese and MIH cheese are the three largest cheeses that have a certificate of authenticity, and there are more on the island there are about seventy producers of Pag cheese. This autochthonous Croatian product is known to the world valued, and is produced from sheep s milk.
Lamb is one of the best Croatian delicacies, and many believe that Pag is one of the best the best. Our lamb has a specific taste due to the area where the native sheep live and where they eat feeds. Tavern Prtorić, restaurant Boškinac and tavern Težak have excellent lamb and others specialties, and they are also located in a wonderful natural environment.
The island of Pag has long been associated with vines, and the tradition of making wine on Pag has existed since ancient times. You can taste top wines in the winery Vina otok Pag and in the winery Boškinac, which is continuously at the top of the best Croatian wines. In addition, there are various local OPGs that produce homemade Pag prosecco, travaric and liqueurs.


The island of Pag has a long history, as evidenced by numerous cultural and historical monuments and a rich cultural heritage. Among the first associations with Pag is, among other things, Pag lace, which is entered in the UNESCO register of intangible cultural heritage.

The central cultural institution of Novalja is the City Museum, which, in addition to its rich ethnographic collection of exhibitions, is also known for the Talijanova buža - an ancient underground aqueduct about 1.2 km long, the entrance of which is located inside the museum. In the center of the city, the parish church of St. Katarine, built in 1908.

You can also visit the Church of Our Lady of Rosary, so called. Little church , which was built in the 17th century on the foundations of an early Christian basilica, that is, a medieval church. Another interesting fact is that in that church, above the altar, there is a miraculous image of the Mother of God who wept in the 16th century.
